About
Some people just can’t be pigeonholed. And I’m one of them. Always a bit of an oddball, but still very much ‘one of the gang’, I’m that guy that’s a little tricky to pin down.
Childhood
Infinitely curious and heavily prone to day-dreaming, I have always enjoyed a rich inner life.
I fell in love with books at around the age of nine, when I discovered the work of Enid Blyton and I’ve been a voracious reader ever since. I loved reading so much that I would read in class, while completely ignoring my schoolwork. I received several ‘canings’ from the headmaster as a result. But I would always go back to reading my book as soon as I could!
Education and experience
I studied English Language and Literature at university, along with French Language and Literature (it was tough!) and Western Classical Culture.
I’m also a qualified lawyer in two jurisdictions (Sri Lanka and England & Wales) with over twelve years of practice behind me.
The first business I ever set up was a solicitor’s practice, (which is what we call law firms here in England). And the first website I ever made was for our firm, waaay back in 2007 (and it looked awful)!
Some two and a half years after setting up my own little firm, I decided to give up the profession altogether. I wasn’t the same person anymore and it was time for a change. I went back to university, to study psychology, and I was awarded my Post-Graduate Diploma in 2012.
The Internet
After graduating, I decided to become a stay-at-home dad while I figured out my next step. During this time, I read the Four-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris and became fascinated with the idea of building a business on the Internet.
I started a blog and one of my posts went viral early on, reaching thousands of people and even being published in a Sri Lankan newspaper. (Sadly, I let my blog lie dormant for a long time—mostly as a result of my consulting business picking up—but I hope to resurrect it very soon!)
I also tried my hand at e-commerce (drop-shipping) selling toy kitchens online.
I even wrote and self-published a couple of ‘information products’ during this time. One of these, ‘Last Minute Exam Success’, briefly reached the No.1 spot in its category on Amazon.
I have enjoyed learning and experimenting with websites, content creation and the online world. I’m still learning and having fun.
My ‘why’
I love creativity and playing with words, pictures and ideas. I also love technology and I’ve been hooked on it ever since I got my very first computer, back in 1986.
Apart from my love for all things related to art and technology, I also love people and I love helping them. Friends and family would always ask me for help with their writing, creative and tech issues. So eventually, I came to see this as a calling and as a way of serving others.
Why choose me?
Yes, I have skills and talents. But there are plenty of skilled people around to choose from. (Then again, it’s not everyone who has my unique combination of skills).
But what truly sets me apart is my enthusiasm and determination to help my clients succeed. You see, I take your business very personally!
In addition to this, I’m very much a ‘people person’ and I like to bring warmth, a personal touch, and a sense of fun into everything I do. So if you’re looking for a skilled partner, who’ll also be your biggest cheerleader, then I’m your man!
